SIP Case Study 1
Project completed Summer 2009 - Our Tax Advisor start-up customer required a telephone system for their new business. To keep costs down, rather than pay for office space in London, they decided they would work out of their Kent Home as they had plenty of room. One of their most important requirements was to have an 0207 published London number as they would be dealing with high-profile clients.
Solution - we installed a new AVAYA IP Office telephone system in their Kent home connected to 10 SIP trunks with a new 0207 number. Calls made out on their telephone system send the 0207 number. Callers ringing them on their 0207 number ring directly into their SIP trunks in their house. They also have 4 ISDN2e channels which they decided to install as a back-up - they also use this for Direct dial numbers for non-client contacts. This was recommended as their house is rural so bandwidth and internet connectivitty is far from ideal. However, as yet they have not had to fall back on the ISDN back up (which is automatic).
SIP Case Study 2
Project Completed August 2009 - Our existing customer is a specialist Electrical company servicing and maintaining High Voltage electrical installations throughout the UK for clients such as railway companies etc. They provide emergency assistance so their callers being able to reach them in an emergency is absolutely critical.
We supplied an AVAYA IP Office telephone system to them in 2008. Early in the summer of 2009 they approached us as they were having to move their main office in Kent to a neighbouring town.
They had made enquiries with BT and as they were moving from one town to another, BT stated that they could not keep their published telephone and fax numbers. This was a bit of a problem for them - although they had in later years published 0845 numbers which meant they could easily change where calls are sent to, customers had been using their original land line numbers for many years.
Solution - we installed a new ISDN connection for them in their new office with a new number and DDI range. We also ported their existing telephone and fax numbers onto our preferred SIP trunk network and installed 4 SIP trunks onto their telephone system so they could continue to receive calls as before.
SIP Case Study 3
Project completed September 2009 - Our long term travel company customer approached us as they had bought a rival firm and were moving from their premises into the newly acquired company's premises within the same town location. Our customer already had an AVAYA IP Office telephone system with ISDN30 but the new company also had ISDN30 with an old BT telephone system. Ideally they wanted to have one system and one group of lines. Sadly, due to the limitations of the BT network and ISDN, they could not have all the new numbers and all their old numbers on the same ISDN connection due to the numbers residing on different parts of the BT exchange.
Solution - we moved their current ISDN30 connection and ported the newly acquired numbers onto 4 SIP trunks. This meant they could have just one telephone system with one main ISDN connection but still make and receive calls as before.
SIP Case Study 4
Project completed January 2010 - An East Kent based Air conditioning company is faced with moving into a new industrial unit. They have published telephone and fax numbers which their clients have called them on for years.
We went to see their new unit as we were quoting to install voice and data cabling and a new telephone system. In the midst of discussions we asked them had they checked whether they could keep their number - they had not even thought this would be a problem as they were moving from one Ashford adress to another. However, we checked whilst on site and their old and new premises were indeed on different BT exchanges.
Neither BT or their current line provider had even thought to check this - had they not been dealing with us their office move could have, at best, been delayed, or at worse could have been a bit of a disaster.
Solution - we installed their cabling and Samsung OfficeSERV telephone system. However, we also installed SIP trunks (just SIP - no ISDN) on 2 new numbers. For the time being they are still using their old numbers in their old premises as they are still under contract to the existing provider. In a few months we will port their existing numbers onto our preferred SIP trunk network so they can use their numbers in their new office as before. They are also using Fax to e-mail as they preferred not to continue to use a fax machine which costs money on toner!
